One of our favorite Tours is to Sakonnet Point to see the Sakonnet Point Lighthouse. The lighthouse is located at the southern tip of Little Compton on Little Cormorant Rock. The light went into operation on November 1, 1884, and has survived countless storms, including the great hurricane of 1938 when waves completely buried the tower at 70 feet above the sea. In 2012 repairs and restorations were completed through a federal program and privately raised funds. It is now owned by Friends of Sakonnet Point Lighthouse, Inc.
